This situation reminds me E3 when kinect (and 360 slim) was shown. Gamers on forums absolutely hated the entire conference and were upset about a number of things, including a pointless Usher performance (plus the whole thing looked like a circus). At that point 360 was doing really bad and was selling less than 80.000 systems a week (according to VGC).

However, after E3, sales of 360 skyrocketed (thanks to the slim) and got momentum. It kept selling well until kinect released which was a massive success and led to even better sales.

In other words, gamers have every reason to hate Xbone, but it might turn out to be an even bigger success for MS, mostly because of things that have nothing to do with gaming. MS is a company and what they care about is profit. Satisfying their customers does not appear to be their priority, but it's highly likely that it, nevertheless, won't come to bit them in the ass.
