Its also funny that if more than one person plays the console on your home (like a brother) and you have different account, you have to buy the same game twice if you both want to play it.

Microsoft: Welcome to the next generation of nickle and dime.

I doubt it will work that way. There was another thread floating around here confirming that all 'sub' accounts on the same physical console are granted the features and functionality of Xbox Live, if the 'main' account on the physical console is the only account that holds a subscription. I assume game sharing will work the same way.

"I can give that disc to somebody else - maybe my son who has his own Xbox One somewhere else in the house - and he can install and play it on his machine. I can come to your house with that disc, I can install it on your machine and we can play it and while I'm with you we can have all of the capabilities of that game.

"The moment I go home and notionally take that disc with me, you no longer have the ability to play that game. But the 'bits' are on your hard drive, so if you want to play that game you can buy it - you can go to the online store, buy it and it's instantly unlocked and playable on your machine. All of the privileges I just described in my house would now apply in yours as well."

As long as you have the physical disc which is tied in with your account.

Something doesn't add up here. From the article you linked to it says "players who activate a pre-owned retail disc will need to pay the same price as the original buyer in order to access its content". Why do you need to activate a pre-owned retail disc if you have the disc itself? It would be no different then if I brought the disc to a friends house to play while I'm there. It still sounds like you would have to log into your friend's console with your account to play your copy of the game.

"I can install it on your machine and we can play it and while I'm with you"

That is the part that irks me. Why do I have to be with you for you to play my game? Why can't I just simply lend you my disc, you play my game for however long and then you return the disc back to me. This obviously to me seems to be the case that you have to log into your account to be able to play the game, because we know that you can play Xone games without your disc as long as you have tied it to your account with an activation code. If you could then lend your disc to someone and they could also play the game, then two people could be playing the game at the same time. This also leads to your problem, which is why do you need to activate a pre-owned disc if you can just pop the disc in and play?

It seems like they're still not clarifying this issue and going with a lot of mixed messaging and dodging questions like a boss. And no, I'm not gonna give my friend my entire account, which has all of my games just so that he can borrow one game. Thats essentially the same as giving my friend my entire console just so he could play one game.
