I will try and make this as short as possible.
Hardware
Both Microsoft and Sony went into details about the hardware but it wasn't until after the conference of Microsoft's reveal that they confirmed everything inside the box except for the GPU.
GPU
Xbox One Vs. PS4 Specs Graphics Processor (GPU): The power of both consoles' GPUs has been compared to the 7000-series chips used in current PC graphics cards. The Xbox One uses DDR3 RAM, the Sony PS4 GDDR5 RAM. DDR3 is quicker at performing lots of small operations, while GDDR5 is less nimble, but much faster at performing fewer larger processes. The winner here in the Xbox One Vs. PS4 Specs GPU is Sony PS4 with GDDR5 - this speed comes in handy when dealing with high-resolution textures and it has a greater bandwidth.
However the RAM are both 8GB and the edge goes to Sony the CPU with 2 Ghz over Microsoft's 1.6ghz
When it comes to hardware it seems like the PS4 will have a slight edge but both of these consoles appear to be pretty powerful compared to the 7th generation of hardware. A big plus for all gamers. Now we will have to wait and see what each can do with the hardware.
Software and Features
The big difference in the Sony and Microsoft reveal of the 8th generation consoles was that Microsoft brought forth many features such as Skype, DVR, Kinect 2.0, and much more. It appears that XBOX ONE will be an absolute beast when it comes to these features across Xbox Live. That does not mean that Sony doesn't have great features as they also showed the Share button and streaming your gameplay from across the world. Either way you go you will no longer need a capture card for either. Xbox One does appear to have more features but Sony also has plenty for gamers as well.
Games
This is the one that forums are blowing up about right now. This actually kind of surprises me since I didn't see a bunch of games from either one. This is the games we have seen from each. Sony showed Knack, Drive Club, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Jonathon Blow game, InFamous Last Son, Watch Dogs, Deep Down, and Destiny. Destiny which did not show gameplay and InFamous Last son was basically a teaser. When I stopped watching the PS4 reveal I was impressed by the hardware and features but was never thrilled about the games. Killzone looked to be powerful and was the best gameplay video we had seen so far but beyond that we got a few trailers and teasers.
Microsoft focused most of there time on Features and software while showcasing a few third party games. This by no means that they don't have games. They did tease us with they have 15 first party games coming this year alone. That is a pretty massive number and really sets the tempo for E3. What Microsoft did show was FiFa, Madden, NBA Live, UFC, Forza 5, Quantum Break, and Call of Duty Ghosts. Much like sony we mostly got quick trailers with no gameplay. However the noticeable difference was that they did not have a good gameplay demo like Killzone to show off the hardware. This may be primarily because they are saving it for E3. None the less this has caused a bit of a reaction in forums. An over-reaction probably, but still a reaction.
While neither Sony or Microsoft impressed me with games at the reveal I have to give the edge to Sony for showing one gameplay video to show off the hardware. For E3 we will wait to see both.
Final Thoughts
Both XBOX ONE and PS4 lookes like a great console specs wise and features wise. As for the reveals of both they both left me wanting more games from each. I do know however that both will deliver at E3. Sony did show Killzone to show the power of the console though which gave gamers a taste of what to expect. Features wise Xbox One impressed me the most with some pretty awesome technology.
While both Sony and Microsoft has officially confirmed no backward compatability i feel this is a let down for many gamers and with questions still souring around if Sony has indeed blocked used games like Microsoft the coming years will be interesting to say the least. From what I see and know I can easily see both of these becoming a success. With all the negativity floating around it may cloud your judgement but in time all questions will be answered from both and both will implement the positive side of there consoles and give reasons for them to be bought. Expect gaming to change forever, but do not expect a failure.
