The problem being that Sony might doing something similar and are keeping quiet about this as well.

This has just become THE QUESTION everybody will be asking until E3.

And not very surprising. There is another reason why this gen lasted so long, because it needed to be longer in order to make a profit off those hardware losses. MS made it's 360 profitable like when? 2011-2012? As for Sony well...yeah. Only the Wii made insane profits from the get-go.

Normally, we'd have started an entirely new gen by now.  What Sony and MS are aiming to do is make a profit as quickly as possible, coming off from last gen. Easiest 1st target is used games. Publishers agree with this too as long as they get a cut. Else we're going to be seeing a long gen again.

Which makes me wonder the hell Nintendo's expecting out the industry in the upcoming years.

Of course MS will be making more money now blocking used games.  But I believe this attitude has more to do with developers, which for some reason feel themselves being robbed by Gamestop and alikes thus pressuring MS to implement this.

I really thought the amount of bad press this will give MS, would  make them give up on this.

About Nintendo:  By the way things are going with videogames right now, Maybe they don't think there will be an industry in the upcoming years,
