I understand why people keep playing it, but why do they defend it so avidly, as if there life was at stake depending on how well it does.

I kinda understand PS3 fanboyism, i own one...and its got some cool features

I understand wii fanboyism, its dominating and its changing gaming

But the 360 i dont get at all

There is no understanding of some fanboyism and not others. Fanboyism is the tech word for jealousy and that's a universal concept. You either understand jealousy in full or not at all. 360 fanboys, PS3 fanboys, Wii fanboys, it's just putting down the other guy to justify your purchase. Fanboyism is not something to aspire to.

If you want to understand it still, it's about the games and the online. Both are spectacular. 360 owners usually don't have to ever run out of games to play. It's a constant stream of first, second and third party offerings.

It's a really great experience that gets crushed if the RROD hits. The other reason most people come back also is that they're in the middle of a game when it hits and probably have another 1 or 2 they haven't started yet. I know i've replaced a PS2 for faulty hardware, and didn't even get a free one to replace it with. You just punch a wall, scream into a pillow and suck it up.
