This rumor is most likely 90% false, and besides, in a few hours we'll get an official announcement anyways!

Personally, if I were Microsoft I would have done 4-8 Gigs of DDR3 + 2-4 Ggis of GDDR5 (much like a home PC build). DDR3 is very cheap and very fast (cheap being the key word).

The issue is not 12GB RAM but the split 8GB DDR3 + 4GB GDDR5 and the "IBM helping in the GPU development".
