It's roughly the period in German literature between 1767 and 1785 (a time of many turmoils, worl-wide). Key points were "emotionalism vs rationalism", and key literature is Goethe's "Götz von Berlichingen" and "Die Leiden des jungen Werthers", and Schiller's "Die Räuber". The period is named after the "Stum und Drang"  drama written by Friedrich Maximilian Klinger. Not actually recommended for reading, basically a forgettable work. Most of the writers/works of that area have pretty much been forgotten. This period was actually part of my high-school graduation stuff..)

If that turns into a game, it's probably going to be an emotional swashbuckling thingie set in late 18th century...
