There are of course people that prefer the platforming over just a hedgehog that's suppose to run really fast...... but the Wii also has Galaxy and Galaxy 2 which are pretty much the peak of 3D platforming in the 7th gen so they made the right decision IMO.

Blimey, as I was watching the LPlays, I felt quite the opposite. I might be clearly out of the loop here (pun intended, but not at first). But you know, as I was thinking about it, the comparison made me think about how I compared Sonic 1, 2 and 3/Knuckles when I played them. Sonic 1 and 2 was more about the platforming than speed when I compared them with Sonic 3/Knuckles in which they were more with speed and the cohesive platforming complemented the speedy pace... But I bet this was always the case throughout Sonic's history. :)
