Very good response... I never looked at it from that perspective.
Although it still seems weird to me. Maybe due to the difficulty of quantifying "fairness".
For example, it would be unfair (albeit advantageous) for the mother in such a case to receive donations from another individual. And it's unfair for the guy to have to pay the said donations. So the amount of introduced "unfairness" is quite large. Does the increase to the child's financial health justify that?
