-They rebooted after Devil May Cry 4 because "we saw other action games getting 4 to 5 million sales". Nevermind the idiocy of this statement as a Third Person Shooter Action title, or action games of the like, are mainstream while Hack n' Slash action titles are niche besides God of War. This is what they stated and why they wanted to go "Western".

Have you got the link where Capcom say that they are emboldened by the success of 'third person shooter' titles. I haven't seen them use the term shooter anywhere.

What I find even more perculiar is how in your mind Its not okay for Capcom to be influenced by third person shooters; bearing in mind Capcom have never said third person shooter, but that is the distinction you made when Capcom actually said 'third person action' game.

Yet its okay for Square Enix to allow Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Lost the tv show to influence Final Fantasy 13??

Thats just one link. Theres a lot of information in the past where Square Enix made claims about how FF13 would exceed expecations, things like the Leonia Lewis song, how FF13 isn't an RPG at all, but a 'new genre of gaming'. It just dosen't make sense why someone would accept things like that, but raise concerns with Capcom's methodology. Why is FF13 also not partial to the same critique?
