I think it is easier for a developer to group consoles by power rather than when they came out, so for them to call something "next-gen" they need to see a step up in power. I mean you can group by {PS3, 360} and {PS4, 720, Wii U, Ouya, Gamestick}, but you can't make a game that is targeted to cover the entire generation without a lot of compromises, so they would never bother. But group by {Ouya, Gamestick}, {PS3, 360, Wii U} and {PS4, 720} and they can target the hardware properly, which is what they are all doing. I mean the Wii U being able to do something that PS360 can't is as relevant as the Ouya being able to, it doesn't mean they are going to group it with the PS4 and 720. |
True but then going with NEXTGEN which is a term some idiot must have come up with is a poor decision (which btw is used inflationary since everything is still next gen even if its out for 3 years........)
I mean developers and publishers are lazy enough so they could at least say Playstation4 and Nextbox instead of NEXTGEN. But I guess this is a general problem with the industry. idiotic interviewers interviewing idiotic devs/publishers using idiotic terms like CASUAL, CORE, NEXTGEN, UNDERPOWERED....
Guess what industry! There was a time when you existed but those words did not!
