I work in for a software company that services the energy. my division of my company is about 50% computer programers and 50% chem/mechanical/nuclear engineers. as a chemical engineer who know how to code (held a 2 year position in college) i am ridiculously more successful and respected then the rest of my non-computer scientist engineers.
..also, coding is fun.
