GameCube was also competing directly head on with the newly launched XBox with Halo and the Playstation 2 was entering beast mode with MGS2, FFX, and GTA3 all coming out around the the time the GCN/XBox launched.

The Wii U is competing against the 7 year old 360 and 6 year old PS3, both consoles are old and past their prime.

And NSMB Wii on Wii far outsold Smash Bros, so I'm not neccessarily certain Smash Bros is going to be all that much bigger than NSMBU in lifetime sales.

Smash Bros. Melee, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, Wave Race: Blue Storm, Super Monkey Ball, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II

Vs.

New Super Mario Bros. U, Nintendo Land, Zombi U, LEGO City, Monster Hunter Tri G

Are the notable exclusives for both consoles at this point.

NBA Street, SSX Tricky. 007 Agent Under Fire are the notable multi-plats for the GCN.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Sonic Racing Transformed, Assassin's Creed III, Need For Speed Underground, Ninja Gaiden III: RE are the notable multiplats on Wii U.

One other thing to consider though is price, GC was $100 less than the competition while Wii U is about $50-100 more expensive than PS360 depending on SKUs. NSMBU would be a system seller at $200 but at $350 it needs more high quality games to go along with it.

so you think Smash Bros. will be a system seller at 350?? I doubt it but i also doubt it will be that expensive by the time it comes out anyway.
