Of course. The PC is always way ahead.
But does it really matter anymore? Back in the 90's and even the early 00's the superior power on PC was used to make games you simply could not see on consoles. Nowadays this is a very rare thing. The PC hardware advantage is now used almost entirely for higher resolutions or improved textures or better frame rates on the exact same games you can play on consoles. Sometimes you'll have a higher player count on PC or something like that but for the most part it's been real shitty the way the market has shifted towards taking console games scraps. Can't say I blame the people in charge though.
The biggest difference here is that while your friend is correct, there's eventually going to be a time when you can easily build a PC that outperforms a PS4 just as easily as a PS4 outperforms a WiiU, that super powerful PC will still be playing ports of PS4 and Nextbox games for the most part. Meanwhile, that WiiU will not be playing games you see on the PS4/Nextbox. It will be the Wii versus PS3/360 all over again.
