Are "next gen" consoles already last gen compared to the best PC rigs from today ?

I really don't get the extended discussions on the specs of the consoles and PCs...Gens...

Isn't it all about games that we care and love to play ?

Of course you will always get substantially better gaming experience with PCs because it's so easy for anyone to update its hardware unlike dedicated consoles but is it really important to have the latest and greatest specs ?

For me it's all about games and what they can deliver. I am happy with my PS3. It will still be relevant even in the next 2-3 years because the games are still gonna come out for it and I will still be satisfied with what it can deliver even at the cost of less impressive graphs and performance compared to upcoming PS4 , next XBOX, and current PCs.

And I don't think developers will maximize the hardware potential of upcoming next gen consoles anytime soon so there won't be a major reason for lots of people like me to buy a next gen console anytime soon at launch because the real difference between the current and next gen consoles won't be that significant in the next couple of years... Remember the games that came out in first couple of years of current gen consoles ?

I will patiently wait to buy a next gen console until the games that I want to play REALLY need the next gen hardware.
