I'm shocked someone got this up so quick... usually the "pure business" stuff takes a little while for people to find.
It's really not hard to understand why they want to break up sony... in a lot of ways, it makes a lot of sense.
However, I don't think it'd work simply because of Sony's still VERY japanese management style and just how big they are. The parts of the company you'd want to "spin off" are such big parts it'd be troublesome.
