The Vita has niche games. Niche games, by definition, appeal to a limited group of people. The Vita is not a hardcore gaming machine, it is a niche gaming machine. If there's a few games that appeal to someone, they will be likely to buy it.
As it stands, there are very few people who can say "The Vita has a lot of games that appeal to me." One or two games just don't cut it. The Vita will need a broad selection of quality titles in order to compete. Re-makes and spin-offs - the majority of Vita's physical library - will never be system sellers, as they are niche, only appealing to a small portion of their series' fan bases. Digital games aren't system sellers, either, as a very small percentage of console/handheld owners buy them regularly. It's the games in the stores that matter, and to be blunt, those suck.
