That article makes it sound like WoW is dying. It's FAR FAR from it. No other MMORPG even close close to it in playerbase. Not even free to play titles.

Uhh. It is dying. If an mmorpg loses more players than it is gaining, then IT is dying no mather how many more players it still has left. World of Warcraft has been constantly losing players for the past few years (a part from the small boost MoP gave it). If you don't consider that a dying mmorpg, then idk what to tell you. It's not dead, far from dead, but it is dying.

It is impossible to call an ACTIVE userbase of 8.3 million dying. considering thats still the highest for any game in the genre then no. it is declining but has more life than any other in the genre

You don't understand what I meant... A dying game is a game that has been losing more players then gaining right? Then going by that definition, World of Warcraft IS dying even if it still has one of the biggest userbase of any mmorpg. How can you not call a game that has been constantly losing players for the past couple years a dying game. Please explain me your definition of a dying game.  Now obviously, WoW is a game that will still be there in 5 years, hell, maybe even 10. But the fact remains that it is losing more players then it's gaining and this perfectly matches the definition of a dying mmorpg.
