Yeah, the Dow Jones has generally always gone up. And the last crash wasn't all that big compared to the great depression. Then it took 25 years for the Dow Jones to get over it's previous highest, this time less then 7.
Interest rates give a whole different picture
A downward spiral since the 80's. There is no room left to go any lower with another crash. That graph ends at 2011, for now the fed expects to keep it near 0 for the rest of 2014 at least.
