The games are getting pretty stale IMO at this point and I'm obviously not the only one. Sales have been in a near steady decline since VII. Hopefully XIII will turn things around but I'm not holding my breath. Halo needs a new approach after H3 is released. Bungie promised the end of the Master Chief story and I'd like to see them kill the FPS gameplay at least for awhile. Come at us with something a little different. Halo Wars has the potential to do this. Mario Party needs to die a horrible, bloody death. It's done. Give it up for a few years, Nintendo and come back with something fresh. RE5 turning back to the Umbrella Corp story makes me want to scream. You had a much cooler story (and zombies) in RE4, Capcom. Why are you doing this to me? Bionic Commando needs to return, like yesterday. A 2D platformer on PSP or DS. Make it happen. Kid Icarus would be an interesting update. I'd like to see them try it. Prince of Persia, though relatively new to returning to shelves, is already getting annoying. Please stop releasing games every 4 months, you bastards. Way to drive a surging franchise into the ground. Metroid. A lot of you will bash me for this but Metroid was never meant to be an FPS. While I've played the games and they're decent, they will always be bastardizations of the original and Super Metroid. I'd like to see Nintendo try a drastically different approach to this series though I'll give MP3 the benefit of the doubt. This was all I could come up with off the top of my head. |
Well, I'm not going to say that you don't have a right to the opinion that Metroid is bad as an FPS, but I also have the right to my opinion that you are certifiable. After the Prime series I have no desire to ever play Metroid in 2D again. It was just a generic 2D sidescrolling shooter until Prime turned it into something truly unique and amazing.
It's true that the transition to 3D often doesn't work out well (IMO Final Fantasy was never the same after VI), but Metroid is about as close to perfect in 3D as any game has ever been.
