The Big Gulp in Canada is much, much smaller, and I already think it's too big. There should be some regulation on fountain drinks, a drink that big is a real problem for causing diabetes. Even for two people, that's far too big of a drink that people should be allowed to get. Remember it's a Large Soda ban, not a large water ban, Bloomburg is only trying to keep people healthy and prevent corporations from making too much profit on products which are harmful. |
If people can't make the decision themselves to not get a large soda then that's their fault. The government shouldn't have to babysit the whole of their population because we "make bad decisions." I understand that it may seem like a good idea because you think you would be helping people, but those people need to help themselves. There shouldn't be a regulation on food that you can literally tell yourself not to eat because you know how bad it is. (There is a difference with re-calls, of course.)
I know it's just a regulation on soda, but to regulate any type of drink/food is slightly overboard. Also, did you ever think of people buying to mediums because they wanted a large? You know, people will find a way to ruin their bodies if they really wanted to.
