Cutting out the weighted score bullshit, using the publications scores used by Metacritic:
Gears of War: Judgment - 6377 / 81 = 78.73 %
God of War: Ascension - 7095 / 88 = 80.63 %
GoW:A = 81% vs GeoW:J = 79%.
(Funny how Metacritic refused to accept TheSixthAxis' 7/10 review for GeoW:J, they use their reviews for everything else. Cherry picking twits. Also how they weighted GeoW:J up but GoW:A down).
Quite similar to:
Gears of War 3 - 8699 / 96 = 90.61 %
God of War III - 9364 / 101 = 92.71 %
GoW III = 93% vs GeoW3 = 91%.
(Also funny how Metacritic started using reviews from Machinima & Guardian a few months after GoW III's release and they both gave it 10/10 which would have brought the average up to 92.85 and ensured a Metascore of 93% (even though it is really at 93% already) but Metaciritc refused to add those reviews even though they've added reviews for games after a longer period of time in the past. They also weighted GeoW3 up but GoW III down even though GoW III got no average/bad scores, more perfect scores and was closer to 93% than GeoW3 was to 91%).
I wonder why Gears of War games keep getting weighted up and God of War games get weighted down and why Metaciritc is cherry picking scores for both where they can, i.e. not including a poor score for GeoW:J and ignoring two perfect scores for GoW III from publications they actually use. This is why Metacritic is dodgy as hell and their Metascores are innacurate.
Still, I'm happy that the worst GoW still averages in the respectable 80-85% range. At least it's not in the 70s like GeoW:J. ;)
