Electronic Arts has a right to support or to not support any console provider they so choose. They aren't beholden, and nobody should feel entitled. They also have the right to do what they want with the things they have bought. A franchise license isn't just given to them. They have to pay for it with their own money. Companies make promises all the time, and often fail to live up to them. That is something we are all guilty of, and frankly we haven't heard their side of the story, and they aren't obligated to explain that to us either.
For all we know Nintendo made promises of their own, and failed to honor them. In other words Electronic Arts may very well have intended to give Nintendo more support this time around, and Nintendo decided to back out after they had gotten that endorsement from Electronic Arts. Then again it could be as simple as Electronic Arts has suffered some setbacks it hadn't expected, and as a consequence of restructuring they had to limit their development platforms. Are you going to tell me that Nintendo has never failed to deliver on promises.
There isn't an actual justification for all of this bad behavior. It is just a lot of petty bitching and moaning. From people who are upset that the lack of support will harm their console of choice. Causing it to sell even worse, and as a very real consequence of that. Its reputation will take a hit as will their own. The greatest irony is that they aren't doing their own brand of choice any favors with this behavior. Trashing Electronic Arts, and its games. Is going to have the exact opposite effect of what they intend.
They are telling Electronic Arts that they don't want their games, and they don't want to do business with them. Which is basically a way of saying fuck off, and don't you dare come back. Worse it is going to drive down the sales of their games on the platform. Which is the only effective way to address the situation. If the sales of those game saw a dramatic increase then Electronic Arts might be tempted to reconsider.
What I think is really getting lost in all of this is the credibility of a lot of posters. You aren't hurting Electronic Arts. You aren't helping Nintendo either. The only thing you are really doing is destroying your reputations, because you have discarded all pretense of dispassionate observation. Frankly at least some of you are better then this.
