I thought that 10 million forecast was for PS3 and PS2 ethomaz? Also according to each of their forecast Ninty expects WiiU to keep up with PS3 starting August and beyond if they expect to ship 9 million. Actually it sounds like Ninty expects WiiU to outsell it during the holidays because the PS3 will certainly kick its ass from now until atleast September.

It was only PS3. And yes, Nintendo expect big things this holiday likely because they have big games lined up. PS4 will be launching and will perhaps affect PS3 sales negatively a bit. I think it's very possible that Nintendo are expecting too much for the year though, because they would have to have a monster holiday with the way sales are going currently. And they will be going up against two new consoles.

Those two new consoles won't be a threat at all to Ninty. They will most likely be pretty expensive and no matter what their launch line ups are they don't have anything that can go toe to toe with two new Mario games. A price cut will also most likely be introduced so no the WiiUs only threat is the 360 and PS3 which won't affect WiiU either since they'll be selling to different fanbases. Do you not remember the Vita launch not affecting the 3DS at all? Because they sold to different fanbases and Vita sold pretty well at launch because it sold to different fanbases. I dont see why people think Ninty is expecting too much? If the WiiU doesn't have a monster holiday then Ninty's games have definitely decreased in popularity, it won't be because of the competing plats. They are selling to different fanbases especially this early in the gen. I highly doubt all of Ninty's fans have bought a WiiU yet.

I think they can make it if they cut the price pretty significantly too. Just saying why they might not make it. The new next gen consoles will have plenty of games on them right at launch, like a next gen CoD, BF, AC, Watch_Dogs, FIFA and their exclusives. The sheer number of titles and the "newness" factor of new hardware will do something to steal customers away from Nintendo.

Of course they will have plenty of games, they are Sony and Micro plats they will have games and great ones at that but they will be no threat to Ninty at all. The Wii proved that this past generation, its up to Ninty to move their platforms. Someone interested in Mario Kart are not going to care about how great Battlefield looks on PS4. All of them control their own destiny which was also proven this gen. Look at the fact that they all will sell more than 95 million.
