Wow, that Vita prediction is completely disheartening.
And it's just... so different from what Sony normally do. Didn't they predict PSP + Vita at 16 million at the start of the last fiscal year? I think it's always better to aim high then reduce predictions. By putting that there they're basically sending out a message that they don't have anything up their sleeves for it.
The only way I can justify it is that it's actually quite a sensible prediction. Last year, even with Call of Duty/Assassin's Creed, it sold 3.5 million for the year. If it sells that again with a bit of a boost + 1.5m for PSP then it'll be bang on their prediction. Perhaps they're just being sensible; and that there is software coming, but it won't provide that big of a boost.
Uff. The more I fall in love with this device, the more I hear bad news about it. E3 can't come soon enough...
