Nintendo relation with the West is not as bad as Microsoft with Japan

True, but that doesn't warrant people to go on and on about Nintendo being a complete flop in the West (especially when they've proved time and time again that they don't really need 3rd parties to be successful). Microsoft NEEDS 3rd parties and good relations in the West & East to survive meanwhile, Nintendo doesn't. Nintendo is pretty self-sufficient.
