Here's the thing though. If they didn't outsource DmC. Dragon's Dogma wouldn't have likely been created, because the previous DMC team did Dragon's Dogma.

I like the route they took better, as I like Dragons Dogma, and I think DmC is the 3rd best DMC. The only DMC I thought was great or classic was 3 anyways. But that's just me, and I'm not a diehard DMC fan.

Sales of 1.2 seems a bit low to happy with though for an estabelished franchise.

You make a good point. Dragon's Dogma seems to be getting a spiritual sequel in the form of Dark Arisen. Judging by how well Dragon's Dogma has been recieved with respect to various criticisims; I'm sure the next game will be a great ambadassor for Japanese made RPGs. Maybe it will even rival Dark Souls 2.

I think DmC sold 1.15 mil copies and Capcom shipped 1.2 mil copies as of March 31.

But the problem with DmC is they've released it too late in the console cycle. Year on year softwar sales are down from when DMC4 came out; this is also evident in the decline of sales from God of War Ascension since God of War 3.

I think Capcom should've waited until next gen to release the game, they could've made it a launch title. Its difficult to interest new fans at this stage in the gen. But it did okay I suppose.
