Fair enough, maybe it's too early to judge anything yet. Mirrors Edge 2 is hazy, though its reported that DICE are working on it. Frank Gibeau also said the game was in development at E3 2011. It is? That's kinda cool. Took them a while though... The direction they went with Dead Space was hardly surprising, after the huge success Resident Evil 5 brought Capcom. Granted, RE6 fucked all that up but the RE5 model looked like a winner. They went for the RE5 model with DS3 and it just didnt work. They had high hopes, but people wanted survival horror. Its the exact same situation as Resident Evil. Youre shitting in the hand that feeds you. That's simply another example of how EA is trying to cash in on current trends. Thanks for furthering mu points about EA; not really concerned with making the best product, but to make the most money. Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Ill admit were a bit silly to bring up, though BioWare are still credited with them. The Baldur's Gate series is one of the best RPG series' of all time. Think of it this way - Youre writing a new CV. 15 Years ago, the company you worked for helped to create the tallest building in Europe. Would you put that work on your CV? I sure would. Rare made a whole bunch of classic games back in the 90's... Donkey Kong Country, Golden Eye, Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark, and lots more. Nowadays... Not making as many classics. Developers are never better than their last game. Sad but true. ToR, while its had a rocky Year or so is now doing great. Its a fun game and has a dedicated userbase. I'm not denying any of that. But fact is, it's not gotten as big as they had hoped it would be, and that forced them to make it F2P. Do you think EA is thinking of it as a huge success? A game reportedly costing 100+m to make? I generally think EA and Star Wars is a great mix. EA have the money to push out big budget Star Wars games from dev teams capable of giving a top quality experience. I am not disagreeing with that. EA has a LOT of talent in their studios, but for the last couple of years that hasn't shown. They could make great games all the time, but to me, it seems as if they're focused on only making money. Give them a chance! I certainly will, but I won't hold my breathe. Its even better news when you look at the console Star Wars offerings of the last 5 Years. LEGO milking, mediocre/poor hack n slash and a relatively poor Kinect game? Please. Aside from 1313 there has been nothing promising for consoles regarding Star Wars since LEGO Star Wars was originally released. This I totally agree with!! |
