I for one think too many on these forums put too much stock in the GT series. It might sell well, but is it really a system seller anymore. There was a argument to be made at the start of the past generation, but that argument doesn't hold much weight anymore. Microsoft has done a outstanding job of nullifying that genre advantage with Turn 10, and their Forza series. Tactically speaking Microsoft probably has the edge now, because their studio is obviously far more efficient. Their product isn't just comparable it arrives on a more consistent basis, and that means purely as a matter of deductive reasoning that their product is going to evolve faster. This is actually the best argument for the next GT game to be on the PS4 rather then the PS3, because while it probably isn't a system seller anymore. It is something that still fills a role in the lineup. While its being there might not sell the console its absence would be noted, and checked off as a decided negative. Seeing as Microsoft's next console will probably launch with a Forza. Sony can't really afford to wait three or four years to get a GT onto the PS4. Doing that is like giving Microsoft a free boost. |
I think you make a good point about GT and it not being the system seller it once was, or even the best (though to be fair, I'm not a racing fan, and don't play the genre. But from what I've seen of offerings on both systems, it doesn't appear to be much if any better than the other) But as to the rest of your comment, I have to disagree. Concerning Sony not having anything to say?? It's mear weeks away from E3, I'm willing to bet they have TONS to say/show. Now does that mean this "some interesting Game announcements" are going to be great news? Not necessarily. But to allude that they have nothing to say at all, that's crazy. Then concerning GT again, I don't see it as a launch title for the PS4. As big as it is, Sony touted a racing game already, DriveClub was it? Can't remember the name (remember racing games don't interest me, RPG all the way baby) So why would they have this racing game shown and demo'd at their Feb Press Meeting, only to later squash it with a GT racer? Think GT will be coming out on PS3 and later ported to the PS4.
