As tens others already wrote, Sony doesn't own Blu-Ray exclusively, and although it's one of the most important members of BDA, the members of the Board of Directors are 19, and many are bigger than Sony. Sony receives part of the royalties, but it should persuade at least 9 other tech giants to block licensing to MS, and most probably it couldn't anyway, each member accepts a cross-licensing agreement, gives the agreed royalties to BDA for the drives or discs it produces, then each member owning patents receives its share. BTW, many of the members do business with MS, they wouldn't have accepted such a thing.
