I don't think you fully understand why the wiiU is failing.  It's failing because Nintendoland isn't as great of a hit as wii-sports.   It's failing because pikmin 3 still has yet to be released.  It's failing because raymon legends was delayed, it's failing because the titles that both casuals and hardcore gamers want, aren't on the wiiU.  But eventually, those titles will come out, and when they do the wiiU will dominate the 720/ps4.  Personally, I think the ps3/360 will outsell the 720/ps4 for the next few years, the graphical leap isn't large enough to where 3rd party devs won't be developing their games on the last gen consoles.  And honestly, it may be 2-3 years before the 720 and ps4 really take off, and sony may not be able to last that long(due to their current financial problems).  The wiiU will be fine since the wii isn't supported, But the biggest sellers for the ps4 are multiplats that will likely be on the ps3, Sony exclusives don't sell very well.  The 720 will be in a little better position because they do have halo, but honestly, I'm worried about next-gen.

Sony exclusives must sell well enough.  They keep getting sequels and Sony keeps buying up the studios.

Also what sold PS3?  It's more expensive than Xbox and gets worse 3rd party games.  It was exclusives, free online, or both.  I think they'll keep basic online free and the laundry list of exclusives will be there again (none of which will sell as well as Halo or Gears because Sony spaces out their customers' gaming dollar and doesn't drum up any 1 game too much).  The biggest area by far that Sony needs to fix is advertising.  I told 3 separate people about Sly 4 who didn't know it existed and bought it when I told them about it.  Convinced a few people to buy Heavy Rain without much effort since they hadn't known of its existence.  It's not that the advertising even has to be that good they just need to let people know that games exist especially when it's a new IP or some game that hasn't been around for 7 years.  Luckily they seem to be handling LoU well and they have the new ad agency so their weakest area may be improved.

Well, sony exclusvies sell "well" just not "system selling" well, Their best selling exclusive didn't even sell 9 million units

While the wii had several games sell more than 20 million, with some breaking the 30 million mark

notice how both wii sports games sold over 30 million, now imagine if wii sports U comes out.

Actually, it was a combination of quantity of  quality exclusvies, blue ray player, and free online.

It will be several years before the ps4 has enough exclusives, and it won't have a new type of disc player like the dvd and blue ray, and it sounds like they are pushing for a paid online service.  So really, the ps4 will have none of the things that sold the ps3's.  Now in a couple years this will likely change, but until then, the ps4 may not do much better than the wiiU and vita are currently doing.
