I think it`s a really good move that costs them nothing and will likely clear up some confusion for Wii owners.
If i were Nintendo i would just create a channel/vídeo that people could download to their Wiis and learn about Wii U - thus doing the same as commercials but even better.
This is the kind of stuff it should have been done after people misunderstood 3DS.
