When Fuse was overstrike, I did like the humor. They went all serious on it, which makes me miss it. Now they can't really do parody. Hey, maybe it works, but it ends up seeming like EA wants to have its answer to Borderlands and Gears of Wars with this. The thing now about the business, with the amount of unemployed talent about, is that unless a studio has IP that is wanting to be acquired, they don't buy the studio. Look at what happened with the likes of Vigil and Darksiders. Vigil is no more. Crytek ends up hiring back a number of the former employees under a new studio name. Without IP of value (aka IP that sold) all that is wanted is the talent. Everything else doesn't matter at all. This is why Insomniac doesn't get bought if Fuse fails. Doesn't mean that Sony won't hire back talent they hand pick though. So, what is Insomniac minus Fuse these days anyhow? |
Ratchet and Clank. If it gets made into a successful movie (doubtful) then another (proper) Ratchet and Clank game on PS4/V is a certainty. If the Ratchet and Clank movie bombs (or never gets made (more likely)) then a PS4/V R&C game is still on the cards. But yes, Insomniac does need to find itself a multiplatform IP that will sell well for it to be worth anything to anyone other than Sony.
