If nintendo had done something like this around the time the wii u had launched nobody would have thought anything of it. It's not desperation it's just free advertising ffs.
People say nintendo need to get off their asses and find ways to let people know the wii u is a new console (not an upgrade) but when they do something like this, they are attacked for it????
I guess if they launched a massive tv advertising campaign (which is also something many have criticised nintendo for NOT doing) people would suddenly turn around and say they are scraping the bottom of the barrel, sinking to new levels of desperation.
No matter, I doubt nintendo give a fuck (now people will probably say 'oh but they SHOULD give a fuck!!!!').
