| z64dan said: I agree with your topic. I did not feel like a loser playing only my N64 or my GAMECUBE or my Xbox, or my dreamcast. Or my game gear. The whole "winning" thing is more of a "haha, OWNED" thing, because Sony fanboys (and the company Sony) were really full of themselves last generation. So its more of a "in yo face, mutha sucka!" type deal. Hell, I still remember those commercials where crash bandicoot went to Nintendo HQ and made fun of mario. That jerk! So, in yo face, sony! |
Yep, this gets to my the heart of my point. As egotistical as this is, I'm going to quote myself:
"In essence -- we want this to be a winner-and-losers, black-and-white contest, because it's appealing and enjoyable to think that way. It's like a sport. But we need to remember that reality comes in grey, and that there is no absolute winner or loser."
The feelings you're describing are exactly the sort I think spurs all of these flame wars. Not picking on you, by any means -- I feel these combative impulses myself. I think we ALL feel this way, sometimes. That's why I'm making this post: to help us all keep it in perspective.
