Two major reasons Nintendo will wait much longer with the Wiiu.

1. They over priced the 3ds because the response at e3 was very posative. They had room to drop the price significantly without take a "major" loss per system sold. The wiiu is not over priced. They already don't brake even.

2. A 3ds price drop meant that ds purchasers would move over to the 3ds. It was backwards compatible, close enough in price to the ds, and the ds was still selling well. The wii isn't selling well enough and is so much cheaper than what the wiiu could possibly cost that you wouldn't get the same effect you had with the 3ds.   The wiiu doesn't have kinect or a blu-ray player to convince the ps3/360 buying market to switch to the wiiu.

Wiiu just needs major games to release leading up the Christmas and the interest in the product will greatly increase....  A good time for a price drop would be next spring IMO and then do some amazing post price drop bundles next Christmas to compete against the other next gens.
