More precisely, what I am saying is that third party games on Nintendo home consoles have been poor in general in recent history. It doesn't matter whether you compare them to Nintendo games or third party games on other consoles, because it will lead to the same result: A glaring discrepancy in quality. I'll refresh the context of this conversation for you: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=5306760 The question that was raised was whether low third party sales were caused by demographics or low quality and you straight up answered that it is due to demographics alone (and accused Nintendo of doing EA's marketing). It's not about how third party games on Nintendo consoles do in comparison to other consoles, it's about third party games not doing well on Nintendo consoles. (The difference is that the games don't need to be the best selling versions or sell equally in order to have done well.) |
but what about the games that release on nintendo consoles and other consoles? why do they perform much worse on the nintendo consoles? an example ill use is the Need For Speed game that released on the WiiU. it was actually a better port than the 360 and ps3 version, yet it performed horribly. im not saying it should reach the same level of sales on the PS3 or 360, considering it launched months later and the install base in much lower but it should have performed better, and much better. but the reason is why didnt it? and i believe the main answer is in the add i suggested earlier (which btw i just used an example to show a point and not accuse anyone of anything, it was the game that popped up to my mind at the time). the WiiU version has this ad

while the other version had this ad when they launched
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ca-lV3LRxEY
why the shift in style between the two ads? why did EA chose to market the game in that style for the WiiU version? its simple, its because like i said nintendo consoles have a different demographic.
