Need to die: Final Fantasy While it's true that each new entry is independant of the last, if the developers (the people making the games) didn't feel the need to live up to the Final Fantasy name (and by live up, I mean change as little as possible so you don't upset the fanbase), they'd probably come up with some new, exciting ideas that would really help the stagnating genre. Matsuno seemed to do it with XII, in my opinion, but I don't see the XIII developers doing anything that exciting (in fact, they've stated they want to create a more traditional Final Fantasy this time). New Life: The 2d virticle shooter genre. 2d Metroid Those are just the ones I feel very strongly about. To be quite honest, most franchises need to die right now. The most important thing the gaming industry needs right now is new IP's.
