That's an ambiguous question.. You can't just lump all conspiracies into one category, because some are true, while others are not.. For instance, the 9/11 and JFK conspiracy are true, while the "reptillians", faking the moon landing and "Holocaust is fake" conspiracies are not.

But remember, they are only conspiracy THEORIES because they have not been proven YET. If Watergate, Gulf of Tonkin Incident, Manhattan Project, etc were not all proven and confirmed conspiracies, they'd still be seen as "theories" as well..

I don't get why some people assume everyone that holds positions of power in government are somehow these angels who would never do wrong. They are just people, and just like the rest of us, many would go to great lengths for greater power and wealth, even if that means crossing the line into corruption. If anything, history has shown that holding positions of power tends to make people MORE susceptible to corruption. Power corrupts - it is a constant throughout history, with a select few exceptions. Sadly those few exceptions always oddly seem to end up assassinated or end up dying in a plane crash..

At the risk of sounding smug, which is not at all my intention - take it from the guy with the history degree.

The people in power do WHAT THEY WANT, regardless of whether it abides by the law, or even ethical.
