So, what happens next time when they don't get extra monies from selling buildings? Are they expecting to profit next Q?

They won't need to. Notice how they said they were raising forecasts because of improved sales. The stock has been undervalued a great deal, and they've been unfairly downgraded at least once. Sony is on the road to recovery, and it's been that way for a while. Reason it took so long was because they got hammered with 2 natural disasters, on top of downgrades, and FUD.

I love this kind of level headed "analysis"

They have profitted $2bn from asset sales.

So without that they would have had a $1.5bn loss this FY

It is right there in the opening post... sony are saying it themselves.

That doesnt bode well given the yen has been much, much weaker than they predicted... giving a huge boost to their earnings.   Go read some analysis...

What is it with the persecution compex?    Nobody is out to get Sony, this is the reality of their predicament.

persecution complex? Do you really think Sony straight up lost 1.5b this FY for nothing? They have bills. They paid bills. They needed to restructure, they needed new R&D. They needed to pay severance packages, they needed new promotions, and they needed new marketing. This all costs money. These are initial high payments into a long-term strategy.

I don't know how you don't see this.

EDIT: Not to mention they barely saw any upward movement last quarter from the yen, and reported what, 300m$ loss, and 200m before that and 250m before that, and that was WITH the sale of the buildings (iirc).
