Only played the demo of DD but i have dark arisen pre-ordered.
From my experience with the demo and with MHFU... Monster Hunter seems to be a labor of patience. The combat is more dynamic on dragons dogma, wich makes any possible grinding not feel as painful. On the other hand, the "nature" feel of monster hunter is quite relaxing aswell.
I would say MH is probably harder.
