Yeah, people mostly bought Android either because "it's not Apple" or because "I can't afford iPhone but I want a smartphone".

Most people, not even iOS users, get the most out of their smartphones.

The user experience now with Android is as good as any, and now familiarity will keep a lot of people interested in staying with the same look and feel. So people who are happy with what they've got are unlikely to move to iOS or WP8, just because. Samsung owners who love Samsung will just get the next Samsung, but they are pretty few IMO. If Tizen doesn't look and feel similar to Android then Samsung owners who have got into a comfortable groove with Android, but are not particularly fussed on the name of the phone maker will staty with Android and buy something other than Samsung. Though I imagine Samsung will offer phones across all 3 OSs for a while.

Because Android and Tizen are both corporatised Linux they probably will have a very similar look and feel. And the pictures in Nikkom's post seem to confirm that same look and feel.

I'm not a big fan of Samsung. I don't really like my wife's SII as it's a bit temperamental. You can put me in the "anything but Apple" camp, mostly because I really don't like the cult of Jobs, and Apple still has that smell about it, and for some people Apple will always be surrogate religion. I'd also love it if I could disengage my entire house from Windows and go all Linux, but I'm not quite enough computer geek to go there, though I've had a Linux laptop and I was very happy with the OS. I'm comfortable with how Android works so when I finally get sick of my ageing Motorola I'll be looking for a non-Samsung Android, or if other handset makers have released Tizen models by then I'll look at them as well. Ideally I'd prefer an Ubuntu phone so that I'm not sucking on any corporate teat on the OS front, but I don't see any Ubuntu's releasing here any time soon, so I'll go for the closest thing to Ubuntu which, again, is either Android or Tizen.
