Indie devs = the most vocal niche community.
A VERY successful indie game like Fez sells 200k units lifetime and they still want to have a major impact on the console design and submitting process itself. They just have to realise that they really are niche and nobody in the real world even cares about them. Fez sells 200k copies for $10 each and he talks like he is a true visionary of this industry, in the meantime a game like DEFIANCE that sells 250k for $60 each on the Xbox 360 in 2 weeks is considered a flop.
How many great indie games were released this gen? Super Meat Boy, Minecraft, Braid, Castle Crashers, Limbo come to my mind and maybe a handful of others in the past 6 years. And with the exception of Minecraft, none of them moved a meaningful number of copies or even hardware.
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
