Nope... PS3 sales are selling below X360 in 2008 and 2009 until the PS3 Slim cameback happened... the gap was near 8 million before the Slim and now it is less than 1 milliom... PS3 has even a chance today to ends this generation over the Wii... that what I call a COMEBACK. Quote me later... PS3 will be the best selling console this generation... 25 million to go. |
Like I said in the OP, PS3 was outsold by the X360 in the Holidays (and continues to be outsold that period of time up to this day). Just look at the graphic in the OP; PS3 sold pretty well compared to the X360 (which had been out for a whole year then, gaining momentum), and sold more than X360 in 2008 for the better part of the year.
So there isn't a case where PS3 were being massively outsold or selling so bad that it could be deemed a failure (relatively speaking of course). And it was selling on par with X360 in 2009 until the Slim launched.
And I wouldn't say that PS3 made a comeback by closing the gap from 8m to 1m - that's not a comeback. And if it is, it's be worst comeback I've ever seen. Managing to continue to outsell your competition for the better part of the year isn't much of a comeback.

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
