It doesn't have to be a dedicated gaming device anymore, like in the PS1and PS2 days. Also you're confused in what the 10 year cycle means No the 10 year plan is for the PS3 only. |
You're wrong. Give it up.
The 10-year plan actually started with the PS2. This means they planned on selling PS2s for at least 10 years. The console would be on the market for at least 10 years. You could buy it in a store for at least 10 years. Sony followed through with this promise since the console actually survived about 13 years.
Again, like everyone has told you, PS3 was meant to have a 10-year life cycle as well. This has nothing to do with when PS4 will launch, as Sony have said themselves that PS4 will not replace the PS3. This is especially true considering PS4 can't play PS3 games.
The time between PS1 and PS2 launches is about 5 years. The length between PS2 and PS3 launches is about 6 years. The length between PS3 and PS4 launches is going to be about 7 years. Console cycles have slowly been getting longer each generation. So no, PS4 is not being rushed. This is all going according to plan. Sony even started PS4 R&D back in 2008.
