No, Nintendo has enough cash to survive for quite a bit. The problem with them this gen is:

Casuals

- The gimmick failed because you cant surprise a casual with tablet games and start a trend. Once casuals have seen it the glimmer is over, which is why its called a gimmick.

- Where is are Wii U fit and casualized first party games? Thats all the casuals care about.

-Hardcore gamers

- Courted third parties enough to gather current gen multiplats, they WILL be cut off next gen to ensure multiplats maintain a high level of quality and realize their art direction based on high parameters let by third parties last gen.

- They focus too much on the DS, and this probably isnt a bad thing in a way because the handhelds have always sold better than their

- Console is severely underpowered by a large margin. Nintendo gamers love to trivialize this but its really no joke. Epic doesn't even think Nintendo should get Unreal 4 because of it.

Just to counter your last argument, tablets and smartphones still get UE4. You can argue how much you want about how the games wouldn't be the same if ported from PS4 to a tablet/smartphone, but the engine is still available for those devices and that makes porting games possible, devices which are severely underpowered when compared to the Wii U alone. Wii U won't get UE4 because of any other reason but performance, since Epic themselves stated that devs could port UE4 to Wii U if they wanted but they wouldn't port by themselves. It's clearly something else going on.

Thats not a counter. You know full well UE4 will make exclusive games for tablets, but not power multiplatform games between the next gen consoles and the Wii U. Most people will cut costs and just use UE3. If the Wii U gets a UE4 game it will most likely be exclusive. The chances are really, really slim right now tech and sales wise for third parties to even give a shit. Nintendo didnt give a shit about them, so why should they give handouts to companies who dont think about them? This isn't the 90's. Get with it....oh wait...Nintendo never is. Hopefully their gimmick will work with the casuals....oh wait...they still dont care. Better luck next time and watch the show as it unfolds.

Yes. But does that change the fact that if a developer wants it can put a PS4 game onto tablets and smartphones? Because that's exactly one of the features UE4 will provide, even if it's not used. About Nintendo not giving a shit about 3rd parties, that wasn't what 3rds were talking before Wii U released. In fact:
