No, not really in the games i like to play. I'd rather be reading the 2nd disc of Xenogears than playing the umpthiest 'awesome' looking fps, or ff13 for that matter. As in story over graphics, aesthetics over graphics, music over graphics, gameplay over graphics.
I also really disliked the amount of 'photorealism' in character models developers have been trying to reach for for so many years.
