We didn't like Bayonetta sales so we though we'd put it on just the WiiU?

Genius.

They may make some money on it if it due to the money paid to them for the exclusivity, but they pretty much killed any possibility of it becoming a successful franchise in the longer term.

Very short term of them. I guess they are financially desperate.

It's not like they had any choice.  Sega had cancelled Bayo2 due to the poor sales of the first game, before Nintendo decided to partner with them to make the game for WiiU.

Well no offense to the series (I still need to get the first one and will get the sequel on Wii-U eventually) but if the first game didnt do so well on both xbox360 and ps3...I cant imagine how its gonna be successful in number of units sold on a system that has a way smaller userbase - if Sega cancelled it, no doubt in my mind that Nintendo is gonna cancel any ideas for a future sequel. At least the hype of it being exclusive will be bought by people who dont buy other game systems providing they buy it....maybe we can see a part 3 from nintendo again :O.

The game didn't do so well because it wasn't so good.

It's a very overestimated game in my opinion.
