The wiiU may end up getting 3rd party support simply because 3rd party publishers need the extra money to make even.

One can end up procedurally generating content aand then storing it in memory, and have an open world.  The code is small, but the games are designed for fairly large spaces.  What I do see is that it is going to be critical to what they target for the coding.  Things generation hanging around longer, ends up benefitting the Wii U by a wide margin.  But, the flip side is that, unless the second screen for the Wii U is THAT critical to the needs of gamers, then the Wii U will have people opt for the cheaper current generation platforms.
