Since when are we talking about "THE face of gaming"? We're talking about which franchise is currently the most popular and that's Call of Duty. And we're using revenues to come to a conclusion because that's probably the most objective way of comparing something's success. Mario is big but not Call of Duty big. Call of Duty's popularity may or may not fade with time (depending on how the franchise is handled in the future) but it undeniably influenced a whole generation that will in many case remember it more than Mario. Let the future tell the truth. And considering that the CoD series is on Nintendo consoles too I don't see why praising its success is going against Nintendo... I don't even know why Nintendo was brought in a PS3 sales discussion anyway. |
Nintendo was brought up because once again a fan of a certain company decided to say that not only was COD the biggest on their chosen platform but also bigger than Mario in gaming. It wasn't a Nintendo fan who first brought up Nintendo. I honestly think it's wonderful that games are getting such high sales but for god's sake - why bash Nintendo to make a point seem more impressive? It actually has the opposite effect. I really enjoy how Nintendo can stand on its own two feet with head held high and be proud of what it has achieved without having to downplay any other companies successes.
And to say Mario isn't CoD big? I don't even know what to say. Revenue etc fine CoD has that. But in terms of sales and popularity? Just no. I'm not arguing with anyway because there's nothing to argue about. So let's each live in our respective fantasies.
